What it is

Cursor is a coding agent and code editor made by Anysphere, Inc. Its homepage describes it as "your coding agent for building ambitious software". It runs on the desktop, from a command line, and in Slack and GitHub pull-request review. Cloud agents work on dedicated machines to plan, build and test changes for you to review.

Who it suits

Developers and engineering teams who want to hand whole tasks to an agent, and choose between models from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google and others. Its docs list GitHub, GitLab, Slack and Linear integrations, plus plugins, skills and MCP servers.

Ownership

The Cursor homepage says that as of August 2026 "Cursor is now a part of SpaceX". Press reports that SpaceX completed its $60 billion acquisition of Anysphere in August 2026.

Privacy

Cursor's security page says that when Privacy Mode is enabled, "we will not train on your data". The page says Privacy Mode "is available to anyone (free or Pro)", and team admins can enforce it. The page lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and ISO/IEC 42001:2023.
