What it is
Claude is Anthropic's chat assistant. You type or upload files and it replies with text, code or documents, and it can search the web, run code and create files. Anthropic's pricing page says memory and artifacts are included on the free plan.
Models
Anthropic's pricing page says Sonnet and Haiku are included on the free plan; Opus is added on Pro and Max. Fable is not on the free plan; on Pro it is available through usage credits, and on Max it is limited to 50% of weekly limits.
Who it suits
Individuals who want one assistant for drafting, research and coding help, and teams that want central billing, single sign-on and admin controls. Developers get Claude Code on Pro and above.
Cost and data
There is a free plan. Pro is $20 a month ($17 a month billed annually) and Max starts at $100 a month. Team and Enterprise are priced per seat. These are USD prices from a non-UK page, excluding taxes. Anthropic's consumer terms say it may use materials to improve its services, including training models, unless you opt out in account settings.
Limits
Max has higher usage limits than Pro. Prices are in dollars, so UK buyers should check the sterling figure at checkout.
