What it is
CS50's Introduction to Artificial Intelligence with Python is a Harvard University course taught by David J. Malan and Brian Yu, published as a HarvardX offering on edX and on Harvard's own pll.harvard.edu and cs50.harvard.edu sites. It covers the algorithms and concepts behind modern AI: search, knowledge representation, probabilistic reasoning, optimisation, machine learning, neural networks and natural language processing.
Who it's for
Harvard's course page states the prerequisite is CS50x (Harvard's Introduction to Computer Science) or at least a year of experience with Python, so it suits people who can already code rather than complete beginners.
Syllabus
Over seven weeks, structured around seven problem sets — Search, Knowledge, Uncertainty, Optimization, Learning, Neural Networks and Language — learners submit projects such as game-playing agents (Tic-Tac-Toe, Nim), a road-sign image classifier (Traffic), and language projects covering parsing and attention/transformers (Parser, Attention), building AI principles into Python programs with machine-learning libraries.
Format and price
The course is self-paced, with Harvard stating a workload of 10–30 hours a week across the seven weeks. Auditing — full access to lectures, problem sets and course materials — is free; a Verified Certificate costs $299. Harvard's own course page states no geographic restriction; the edX course page's content could not be checked for this.
